Launching the seventh ordinary session of the Arab Council for Population and Development

​The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States—through its Social Affairs Sector, Population Policies Department, and the Technical Secretariat of the Arab Council for Population and Development—convened the seventh ordinary session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Population and Development on 4 December. The session, hosted by the Republic of Iraq, was chaired by His Excellency Professor Dr. Mohamed Ali Tamim, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning of the Republic of Iraq.

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence 2025 Campaign

​On the Arab Expatriate's Day, which is celebrated annually by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States (LAS) on December 4th, we honor the achievements of the Arab descendants residing abroad, whose contributions to their new societies stand as evidence of their distinction and excellence across political, economic, scientific, cultural, athletic and artistic fields. They represent an extension of an authentic Arab civilization, and a distinguished model of openness to and integration with other civilizations.

​The Executive Bureau of the Arab Council for Population and Development held a meeting organised by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States/Social Affairs Sector/Population Policies Department/Technical Secretariat of the Arab Council for Population and Development on 3 December.

The meeting precedes by one day the seventh ordinary session of the Arab Council for Population and Development, which will be chaired and hosted by the Republic of Iraq.

General Secretariat organises seminar on “The Suffering of Palestinian Prisoners and Detainees in Israeli Prisons and the Situation of Deported Prisoners”

​In keeping with the League of Arab States' longstanding commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause, the General Secretariat (Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector) held a seminar entitled “The Suffering of Palestinian Prisoners and Detainees in Israeli Prisons and the Situation of Deported Prisoners,” at the request of the Permanent Mission of the State of Palestine to the League. The seminar was convened on 2 December at the League of Arab States.

General Secretariat convenes ninth session of Provisional Executive Council of Arab-African Cultural Institute

​The ninth session of the Provisional Executive Council of the Arab-African Cultural Institute is being held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States from on 1-2 December. Participants include representatives from the Department of Africa and Arab-African Cooperation, the Department of Culture and Dialogue of Civilisations, the African Union Commission, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation (ALECSO), the Arab-African Cultural Institute, and the League of Arab States Mission in Addis Ababa.

General Secretariat holds introductory training programme on League for Kuwaiti diplomats

​The Administrative and Financial Affairs Sector is organising an introductory training programme on the activities of the various sectors of the League of Arab States for a delegation of Kuwaiti diplomats. The programme is taking place on 1-2 December at the General Secretariat headquarters.
