HE Dr. Haifa Abu-Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector, said that the Secretary-General, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, will sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States and the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures on Monday, 16 September 2019 at the General Secretariat.
The signing comes within the framework of the keenness of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States to codify cooperation with international and regional organizations working in the field of dialogue of civilizations and cultures.
The Memorandum of Understanding also aims at strengthening cooperation between the Anna Lindh Foundation and the General Secretariat in all areas of common interest, including the development and implementation of joint strategies and intensifying their joint efforts to promote the concept of global citizenship, support cultural dialogue and civilization, spread the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence and promote a culture of sustainable peace and addressing the phenomena of terrorism, extremism, intolerance and racial discrimination.
Within the framework of the implementation of the above Memorandum, the two sides will organize joint conferences, forums, workshops and dialogues, coordinate mutual and regular visits between officials of the two organizations in order to consult and exchange views, exchange invitations to attend and participate in conferences, seminars and workshops on topics of common interest organized by each party.
