Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, met on 13 September with Mr. José Manuel Albares, the Spanish Foreign Minister, during his visit to Madrid.
Gamal Roshdy, the spokesman of the Secretary-General, said the meeting tackled a number of issues of mutual interest and means to advance relations between the League of Arab States and Spain in the political, economic and cultural fields, especially in light of the distinguished relations between the two sides. Roshdy noted that the Spanish minister was interested to learn about the Secretary-General's vision regarding developments in the Palestinian cause, the Libyan crisis, and the repercussions of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Mr. Aboul Gheit called on the Spanish government to support the Palestinian request in the United Nations to obtain full membership, while Mr. Albares reviewed the latest domestic developments.
