  • Arab League chief condemns terrorist attack in Somalia; calls for int’l solidarity to uproot terrorism

    Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, has strongly condemned the terrorist attack by the militant group Al-Shabaab, which targeted civilians, including innocent children, in a hotel in the Somali capital Mogadishu.

    Mr. Aboul Gheit also expressed his "solidarity with the brotherly Somali people, his condolences to the families of the victims, and his wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured."

    The spokesman of the Arab League's Secretary-General, Jamal Rushdie, said there is an urgent need for real international solidarity with the government of the Federal Republic of Somalia, on all security and political levels, to enable it to uproot terrorism and address the challenges that undermine Somali and regional peace and security.
