  • League condemns heinous crimes against civilians in Kalogi, South Kordofan; demands independent investigation and accountability
    Date: 07/12/2025

The League of Arab States expresses its unequivocal condemnation of the ongoing heinous crimes and grave violations of international law in Sudan. Following the horrific abuses that claimed the lives of hundreds of civilians in El Fasher after its fall to the Rapid Support Forces, the city of Kalogi in South Kordofan State witnessed yet another brutal massacre two days ago, when civilian facilities were struck by drone attacks. This assault resulted in the deaths of approximately 80 civilians, the majority of whom were children, women, and workers in the city’s educational and health facilities.

The League of Arab States reiterates its denunciation of this unprecedented pattern of unchecked and unpunished bloodshed targeting civilians in Sudan, and of the continued perpetration of violations that amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity under international law. It holds those responsible for this massacre fully liable, both legally and criminally, stressing the imperative of launching independent and transparent investigations into the crime, ensuring accountability, and preventing impunity.

The League of Arab States warns that the persistence of this dangerous deterioration, and the transformation of violence into a systematic practice, pose a direct threat to Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity. Such developments also reflect an intent to undermine civil peace and to open the door to a protracted cycle of chaos and armed violence aimed at dismantling the state, with grave repercussions for Sudanese and regional security.

The League of Arab States further affirms its continued engagement with regional and international partners in coordinating various initiatives aimed at ending the unprecedented violence, restoring peace and stability to the country, and launching a coherent Sudanese political process capable of halting this dangerous downward trajectory.
