    The new Chinese Ambassador, Mr. Liao Lichiang, presented his credentials on Wednesday morning, 18/9/2019, to Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States.

    The new Chinese Ambassador, Mr. Liao Lichiang, presented his credentials Wednesday morning, 18/9/2019, to Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States, at the outset of his tenure as his country's new ambassador in Cairo, and an accredited representative of China to the Arab League.

    An official source at the Arab League's General Secretariat said that Aboul Gheit expressed the pride of the Arab League for relations with China and appreciated China's principled stances on Arab issues, especially the Palestinian issue of central importance to Arab countries.

    The source added that the Secretary-General reviewed with the Chinese Ambassador various aspects of cooperation between the League of Arab States and China, expressing his aspiration to hold the ninth round of the Ministerial Meeting of the Forum on Arab-Chinese Cooperation, scheduled to be held in 2020 in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, affirming the League's support for the important role played by China on the level of infrastructure investments in the Arab region under the Belt and Road Initiative.​
