The mission of the League of Arab States arrived in Tunisia on Friday, October 11, 2019 to observe the second round of the Tunisian presidential elections, which is scheduled to be held on Sunday, October 13, 2019, in the framework of coordination and communication with the Tunisian authorities concerned with the elections.
Ambassador Khalil Ibrahim Al-Thawadi, Assistant Secretary-General, Head of Arab Affairs and National Security, Head of the mission, and his accompanying delegation, met upon his arrival with Mr. Nabil Bafoun, Chairman of the Independent High Commission for Tunisian Elections.
During the meeting, Al-Thawadi conveyed the greetings of Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States, to the President of the Commission, Reaffirming the readiness of the League to support the Tunisian people in their political progress. From his side, Mr. Bafoun stressed his appreciation for the professionalism of the mission during the first round of these elections, which was held on the15th of September 2019.
