Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit says that the League fully supports the appeal made by Sudan to all Arab and international organisations for their assistance in the face of the disastrous floods and rains in the country.
Aboul Gheit stressed the seriousness of the humanitarian situation and the need for urgent response and action on all international and regional levels to save the Sudanese people from the repercussions of this critical humanitarian crisis.
Spokesman for the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Jamal Rushdie said that the League is currently in communication with the Sudanese authorities in order to develop an urgent response plan to bridge the gap between the extent of the damage caused by the disaster and the current level of response by the international community.
