Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit received Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of the Republic of Lebanon Abdallah Bouhabib at the headquarters of the League's General Secretariat in Cairo.
The meeting addressed the latest developments in joint Arab action ahead of the 158th session of the League's Council meeting at the ministerial level, which is scheduled to be held Tuesday in Cairo.
The Lebanese minister briefed Aboul Gheit on the situation in his country, especially in light of the severe economic crisis it is facing as a result of the depreciation of the currency, according to Spokesman for the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Jamal Rushdie.
The two sides also discussed possible tracks to enhance Lebanon's stability in view of the forthcoming political entitlements.
Rushdie quoted the secretary-general as confirming during the meeting the League of Arab States' support for Lebanon, given that its stability represents a significant pillar in the stability of the Arab Mashreq (the eastern Arab world).
