Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, has expressed grave concerns over the ongoing combat operations in Khartoum, the capital, and other parts of Sudan, between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces. He has unequivocally denounced the use of arms and violence among brethren, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Secretary-General has emphasised the paramount importance of the warring factions to prioritise the safety and security of Sudanese civilians residing in the conflict zones and across the country. He has stressed the urgent need to de-escalate the situation and immediately put an end to the loss of human lives. Moreover, he has conveyed the readiness of the General Secretariat to intervene with the warring parties to achieve these objectives.
