Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit,
Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, participated this
morning in the opening session of the High-Level International Forum on
Youth, Peace, and Security, held in Amman, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,
under the patronage and in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Al
Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince of Jordan, alongside Their
Excellencies the Ministers of Youth and Sports from Arab countries.
Gamal Roshdy, the spokesman for the Secretary-General, stated that in
his address, Mr. Aboul Gheit stressed the pivotal role of His Royal
Highness Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah in the adoption of United
Nations Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security
in 2015. He underscored the critical importance of involving youth in
peacebuilding efforts and the maintenance of security. Furthermore, he
highlighted the League of Arab States’ dedicated efforts over the past
three years in developing the Arab Strategy for Youth, Peace, and
Security, driven by the belief that youth are the catalyst for positive
societal change.
The spokesman further noted that the Secretary-General paid homage to
the resilience of Palestinian youth, who continue to stand firm in the
face of the occupying power's tyranny, courageously confronting the
occupier's crimes and violations. He remarked that the world has
witnessed, through social media platforms over the past months, the
remarkable efforts of Palestinian youth in rescue operations, relief
work, assisting the displaced, and exposing the brutal practices of the
enemy.
It is also noteworthy that the Council of Arab Youth and Sports
Ministers convened an extraordinary session to discuss and establish the
general priorities of the member states of the League of Arab States
for the executive plan of this strategy
