Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, rejected and strongly condemned a plan announced to have been approved by the Israeli Security Cabinet. The plan calls for the “reoccupation” of the Gaza Strip, placing it under Israeli control, displacing the residents of Gaza City, and confining most of the Strip’s population to a small area in its south.
The official spokesperson quoted Mr. Aboul Gheit as affirming that the League of Arab States has repeatedly warned against allowing Israel to continue its reckless, unending, criminal war against the Palestinian people, aimed at liquidating their cause and eliminating them as a national group. He stressed that the time has come for the international community to take a decisive stand to end this bloody cycle.
The spokesperson said that Mr. Aboul Gheit views the plan as a true reflection of Israel’s intentions and objectives since the start of the war: to reoccupy the entire Gaza Strip and expel as many of its residents as possible. This is a plan that the Arab side rejects unequivocally and comprehensively, and one that is condemned across the world.
The spokesperson said that the occupation government is no longer aware of the extent of its international isolation as a result of persisting in a war of extermination for nearly two years. He added that the leaders of the Israeli government are driven by extreme ideologies or narrow self-interest, and that they show no concern for the fate of the Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip.
