Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received Engineer Musa Maaytah, Chairman of the Independent Election Commission of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, along with his accompanying delegation at the headquarters of the General Secretariat on 4 August. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Amjad Al-Adayleh, Permanent Representative of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the League of Arab States.
Gamal Roshdy, the Secretary-General's Spokesperson, stated that the discussions between Mr. Aboul Gheit and Maaytah focused on enhancing institutional cooperation between the League of Arab States and the Independent Election Commission, particularly with regard to the development of electoral practices, the exchange of expertise, and the training of electoral personnel.
The Spokesperson highlighted Engineer Maaytah’s appreciation of the League of Arab States’ important role in monitoring elections in member states, as well as the significance and quality of the reports issued by its missions, including their observations and recommendations aimed at advancing and improving electoral processes.
Engineer Maaytah’s visit comes in the context of his follow-up on the Senate elections in the Arab Republic of Egypt, at the kind invitation of the National Elections Authority of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The visit reflects ongoing cooperation and the exchange of expertise between the two sides.
