The Third International Conference on Climate and Environment will commence on 3 June under the auspices of the League of Arab States and the Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The conference will take place at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States and is being jointly organised by the General Secretariat, in cooperation and coordination with Nile University and the Engineers for a Sustainable Egypt Association.
This conference serves as a significant platform for the exchange of knowledge and expertise among specialists, academics, and decision-makers in the fields of climate change, environmental sustainability, and innovative ecological solutions. The opening session will bring together senior officials and leading experts in climate action and development, underscoring the importance of collective efforts to confront environmental challenges and advance sustainability across the Arab region.
His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Maliki, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Economic Affairs Sector, noted that the convening of the conference coincides with World Environment Day, observed annually on 5 June. He said that the event aims to raise awareness of climate and environmental concerns, spotlight initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, and serve as a launchpad for a variety of forward-looking environmental programmes.
The first day will feature a high-level panel discussion involving senior officials and policymakers specialising in climate and environmental affairs, who will deliberate on national and regional strategies for addressing climate change and celebrating exemplary green initiatives. Over the course of two days, the conference will cover a wide array of topics, including water resource management, the fight against plastic pollution, and the advancement of sustainable urban development.
