His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, met on 26 September with His Excellency Dr. Kamal Idris, Prime Minister of the Republic of Sudan, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Gamal Roshdy, Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, stated that Mr. Aboul Gheit listened attentively to Dr. Idris’s briefing on the latest military developments on the ground in Sudan, particularly in El Fasher in Darfur, which is enduring a dire humanitarian situation as a result of the siege imposed on the city.
The Spokesperson added that the Secretary-General reaffirmed the League of Arab States' unwavering commitment to the established Arab principles of safeguarding Sudan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the continuous support extended by the League of Arab States to his country.
