The Executive Office is set to discuss several issues that are a priority for joint Arab social development efforts, foremost among them supporting social conditions in the State of Palestine, particularly in the Gaza Strip, in light of the inhumane practices of Israel, the occupying power.
The Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs has been closely monitoring the successive developments in the Gaza Strip since 7 October 2023, and continues its efforts to provide the necessary social assistance. In continuation of these efforts, the Executive Office will examine this issue, which has become a permanent item on its agenda, in line with the responsibilities of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs and its Executive Office.
In the same context, the Council is also scheduled to discuss preparations for the Second World Summit for Social Development, set to be held in Doha, Qatar, from 4 to 6 November 2025, pursuant to a United Nations General Assembly resolution. The discussion will build on the Arab position and priorities for this important summit, following the first summit held in Copenhagen in 1995.
The ministers will further discuss preparations for the next Arab Summit, scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia in 2026, particularly the preparation of the social file in accordance with priorities affecting Arab citizens. This will also include topics related to persons with disabilities, the elderly, the family, and childhood. The ministers will additionally support a number of social development projects in Arab countries, with a focus on the groups most vulnerable to social risks, within the framework of monitoring the implementation of the social dimensions of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and relevant Arab and international resolutions.
