In implementation of the media component of the Executive Programme of the Arab-China Forum, the seventh session of the Radio and Television Cooperation Forum will be held from 4 to 6 November in Chongqing. The forum is jointly organised by the Media and Communication Sector of the League of Arab States, the China National Radio and Television Corporation, and the Arab States Broadcasting Union. It is set to be attended by ministers of information, heads of media institutions, and senior media officials from Arab countries and the People's Republic of China.
In this context, Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Media and Communication Sector, who is leading the General Secretariat's delegation, stated that convening this forum reflects the strong commitment of both sides to advancing cooperation in the audiovisual media sector. It also aims to explore new avenues for strengthening the media's vital and influential role in presenting realistic, objective, and comprehensive portrayals of shared issues, promoting a culture of peace, and consolidating mechanisms for human, civilisational, and cultural communication between the Arab world and China.
His Excellency explained that this session, held under the theme "Exchange of Arab and Chinese Civilisations and Audiovisual Innovation: A Shared Gain," will feature contributions from a number of media professionals and experts during two dialogue sessions. The first will address Arab-Chinese cooperation in audiovisual media content in the digital era, while the second will focus on enabling technologies for the high-quality development of the audiovisual media industry. In addition, several parallel events and field visits will be organised for Arab delegations to explore opportunities for programme exchange and training within Chinese media networks across various disciplines, including the use of artificial intelligence to enhance content quality and improve production processes.
Ambassador Khattabi stressed that the conclusions of the seventh session will represent an additional milestone in the trajectory of the forum, which seeks to build a media landscape that reflects the depth of Arab-Chinese cultural and civilisational interaction and fosters closer exchange of technological and digital expertise. He expressed his satisfaction with the continuity of the forum's sessions and the positive outcomes it has achieved since its inception in 2011, within the framework of a series of professional agreements and partnerships between Arab and Chinese media institutions. This includes the extensive cooperation with the Arab States Broadcasting Union, which brings together Arab public radio and television stations alongside a number of private channels.
The delegation of the General Secretariat, in addition to the head of the Media and Communication Sector, includes His Excellency Ambassador Ahmed Mustafa Fahmy, head of the League of Arab States Mission in Beijing, and Mr. Bashir Harjani, Minister Plenipotentiary in the Department of Information.
