Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, participated on 17 November in the opening of the 11th session of the Conference on Dialogue between Arab and Chinese Civilisations, held in Beijing.
Gamal Roshdy, the Secretary-General’s spokesperson, stated that Mr. Aboul Gheit delivered a speech in which he commended the conference, which has evolved into a cornerstone of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two sides, reflecting the deep understanding and constructive cooperation that underpin the relationship between the two civilisations.
In his address, Mr. Aboul Gheit also referred to the theme of this year’s session, which calls for jointly building a Chinese–Arab community with a shared future for the new era, and for replacing the language of conflict and rejection with the language of partnership and understanding.
The spokesperson added that Mr. Aboul Gheit stressed the League of Arab States’ firm belief that civilisations complement and converge, and that their true strength lies in their diversity. Hence the need to uphold the principle of civilisational integration and reject exclusionary approaches.
He further noted that Mr. Aboul Gheit highlighted the rapid and profound transformations of our time, which have generated widespread global anxiety. He pointed to the role of modern technology and social media in exacerbating tensions and amplifying extremist views, making it imperative for all institutions working for the good of humanity to confront hate speech.
