A five-day advanced training course organised by the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries for a group of Sudanese personnel, on 11 December at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States. The course was held under the generous patronage of His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.
The closing session was attended by His Excellency Ambassador Kamal Bashir, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Sudan to the Arab Republic of Egypt and the League of Arab States, along with the programme's experts.
In his remarks, His Excellency Ambassador Mohannad Saleh Lajouzi, Assistant Secretary-General and Director-General of the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries, expressed his gratitude to His Excellency Mr. Aboul Gheit for his generous patronage of the course and personal supervision of its opening ceremony. He highlighted that this support reflects the League of Arab States' commitment to assisting Sudan and strengthening the stability of its institutions during this critical period.
Ambassador Lajouzi also conveyed his appreciation to His Excellency Ambassador Emad El-Din Adawi and Her Excellency Ambassador Nermine El-Zawahiri, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Secretary-General of the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development.
The course lectures were delivered by a distinguished group of prominent Egyptian diplomats, including:
• Ambassador Mohamed Badr El-Din Zayed, former Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs
• Ambassador Salah Halima, former Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs
• Minister Plenipotentiary Tamer Azzam, Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The experts delivered a specialised and advanced training programme covering negotiation and crisis management, rumour management, documentation of violations, and the diplomatic role in supporting reconstruction and development efforts, combining practical field experience with modern professional frameworks.
During his remarks, Ambassador Kamal Bashir commended the significant role of the Director-General of the Fund in preparing, planning, and implementing the programme, lauding the efforts made to ensure an effective and comprehensive training programme tailored to the actual needs of Sudanese personnel.
Ambassador Bashir noted to Ambassador Lajouzi that over the past five days, participants had received intensive training in practical and technical skills designed to support Sudan’s efforts to recover, unify its institutions, and strengthen its capacity to confront current challenges.
He also reaffirmed the commitment of the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries—in partnership with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States—to continue delivering specialised and in-depth training programmes in the next phase, stressing the importance of human resource development in Sudan’s reform, development, and reconstruction processes.
The course concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants, who expressed their sincere appreciation for the initiative, noting that the course content represented a qualitative addition to their professional experience and that they highly valued the efforts made to support Sudanese personnel.
