The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States commends the distinguished diplomatic endeavours and commendable mediation undertaken by the Sultanate of Oman, which culminated in the recent ceasefire agreement in Yemen, in conjunction with the efforts of the United States of America.
The General Secretariat expresses its hope that the successful implementation of the agreement's provisions will contribute to alleviating the humanitarian suffering endured by the Yemeni people, curbing the ongoing military escalation, and bolstering the broader diplomatic initiatives aimed at halting the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, as well as addressing other critical issues in the region. The agreement is also expected to play a pivotal role in restoring maritime security in the Red Sea and the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait, thereby ensuring the uninterrupted flow of international commercial shipping through the region's vital sea lanes and waterways.
Furthermore, the General Secretariat reaffirms its full commitment to the resolutions of the League Council in support of the legitimate government of Yemen and the measures it undertakes to safeguard the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Republic of Yemen.
