Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit vehemently condemned the targeting of Sudanese state facilities by drone strikes launched by the Rapid Support Forces on 4 May in the cities of Port Sudan and Kassala, describing it as a grave and alarming escalation of the crisis that severely hampers the movement of civilians and the delivery of humanitarian aid across Sudan.
Gamal Roshdy, the Secretary-General’s spokesperson, stated that the persistent attempts to undermine Sudanese state institutions, facilities, and critical infrastructure not only jeopardise Sudan’s future, unity, and territorial integrity but also pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability, particularly in the Red Sea corridor. He urged full and immediate adherence to the ceasefire agreement signed in Jeddah, as well as strict compliance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
