A seminar marking the launch of seven translations of the two books "Witness to War and Peace" and "My Testimony", by Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, will be held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States on 7 October. The seminar is organised in cooperation with Nahdet Misr Publishing House, the publisher of both books.
The two books have been translated into seven languages: English, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Italian, and Romanian.
The celebration will feature a seminar in which Mr. Aboul Gheit will speak about his two books, which reflect a diplomatic career spanning more than half a century. The event will also bring together a number of diplomats, academics, intellectuals, and journalists.
"Witness to War and Peace" covers key milestones in the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict, many of which Mr. Aboul Gheit personally witnessed during his diplomatic career. The Secretary-General recalls some of these turning points, particularly as the celebration coincides with the anniversary of the glorious October victory.
Meanwhile, "My Testimony" recounts the details and behind-the-scenes dynamics of diplomacy as experienced by Mr. Aboul Gheit during his seven years as Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, a pivotal period in Egypt’s modern history and that of the region (2004–2011).
