Aboul Gheit receives UN Special Coordinator in Lebanon,
stresses need to end presidential vacuum shortly
Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, said that
the presidential vacuum is not in the interest of Lebanon, and its continuation
contributes to deepening the country's crisis and increasing the suffering of
the people. Aboul Gheit urged all Lebanese political forces and leaders to work
together to end the vacuum as soon as possible by electing a president who
would fulfil the aspirations of all the Lebanese and serve as a symbol for reaching
the desired consensus. This came during Aboul Gheit's reception of Mrs. Joanna
