    Date: 22/11/2022

The 5th Fingerprint Summit under the theme "The 1st Forum to Promote Investment Opportunities" was held on November 22-23, 2022 in Cairo, under the auspices of the League of Arab States, the Egyptian Cabinet, the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Trade & Industry, and the General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone.

Her Excellency, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector, Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh spoke at the opening session applauding the efforts of Egypt to achieve its investment agenda under Egypt Vision 2030, and the participatory approach adopted by the Egyptian government at the beginning of 2018. It aims to update the sustainable development agenda, with the participation of various ministries, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations, and with the assistance of some top experts in diverse fields, to cope with the changes made in the local, regional and global context.

"The League of Arab States believes in the significant and outstanding role that the non-governmental organisations may make amidst the political, social, and economic changes taking place in our region", Abu Ghazaleh emphasised.

Consequently, the Secretariat-General of the League of Arab States issued the "2016-2026 Decade of Arab Civil Society Organizations" document, as well as dedicating December 27 of each year as an "Arab Day for Civil Society Organizations" to define the significance of the role played by non-governmental organisations as they are the auxiliary, supplementary, and integral of governments in working for development.

Some members of the Egyptian government, former ministers, and representatives of non-governmental organisations and the private sector participated in the opening session of the Summit, which will proceed throughout November 22 and 23, by holding some sessions to discuss the development of the maritime transport industry and sectors related to it, challenges and how to combat them, and the capital market mechanisms to engage foreign and national investments.
