Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Maha Bakhit, the Director of the Legal Affairs Department and the Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Unit at the League of Arab States, emphasised the meeting's objectives. She highlighted that the primary purpose is to maintain collaborative efforts and promote coordinated action within the Arab intellectual property domain. These efforts have been ongoing since the inception of the Technical Committee for Intellectual Property in accordance with the ministerial decision issued during the 57th session of the Economic and Social Council in 2016.
Dr. Bakhit further noted that the Technical Committee for Intellectual Property is comprised of government officials representing intellectual property offices in Arab countries, covering industrial property offices as well as copyright and related rights offices. The committee plays a pivotal role in shaping the framework for cooperation among Arab nations concerning the protection of intellectual property rights. It also actively contributes to enhancing Arab awareness regarding intellectual property matters and fostering an environment that encourages innovation.
