  • League condemns occupation's seizure of Palestinian lands in West Bank
    Date: 23/03/2024

Gamal Roshdy, the spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit vehemently condemned the Israeli occupation government's decision to seize 8,000 dunams of Palestinian land in the Jordan Valley area of the West Bank, designating it as state land with plans for further settlement expansion.

Roshdy emphasised that the timing of this occupation decision, coinciding with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s visit to the region, underscores Israel's intent to solidify the presence of illegal settlements and undermine the international consensus supporting the two-state solution. This move makes the realisation of such a solution increasingly unattainable by perpetuating settlement growth and the ongoing confiscation of Palestinian territories, particularly in Area C, which constitutes approximately 60 percent of the West Bank's territory.

The spokesperson stressed that despite the heinous and brutal nature of the occupation's crimes in Gaza, attention should not be diverted from the ongoing Israeli agenda to annex lands and dismantle the remnants of the two-state solution. It is imperative for the world to recognise the peril posed by the actions of the occupation government, which is heavily influenced by extremists and settlers. These actions threaten the future political prospects of the Palestinians.
