  • League celebrates World Intellectual Property Day at General Secretariat headquarters

    ​The Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Unit of the League of Arab States commemorates World Intellectual Property Day on 29 April at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo. This year's celebration is held under the theme "Intellectual Property and Sustainable Development Goals: Building Our Common Future with Innovation and Creativity."

    The theme for this year's celebration is focused on advocating for the utilisation of the intellectual property system to foster a sustainable future worldwide. It also emphasises the importance of addressing challenges to achieve sustainable development goals effectively.
    Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Maha Bakhit, Director of the Legal Affairs Department and the Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Unit at the League of Arab States, highlighted that this annual celebration serves as a platform for sharing collective experiences among participating countries and facilitates dialogue and discussion on various intellectual property issues.
    The event features multiple working sessions focusing on the utilisation of intellectual property as a tool for advancing sustainable development. Additionally, discussions will delve into the role of innovation systems, industrial property, and artificial intelligence in supporting sustainable development goals. These topics are presented by experts and specialists in the field of intellectual property, with the inclusion of showcasing the best experiences and practices from Arab countries.
    The celebration will witness the participation of government officials from intellectual property offices in Arab countries, experts from the World Intellectual Property Organisation, as well as researchers, jurists, and young inventors.
