  • General Secretariat participates in 15th session of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Summit

    His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Khaled Manzalawi, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the International Political Affairs Sector, participated in the 15th session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation summit held in Banjul, the capital of Gambia, on 4 and 5 May 2024. The summit, themed "Strengthening Unity and Solidarity through Dialogue for Sustainable Development," saw the presence of notable figures including His Excellency President Adama Barrow of Gambia, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (chair of the 14th session of the Summit), and His Excellency Mr. Hussein Taha, the Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. Additionally, the summit was attended by various heads of state and government from member states, as well as high-level representatives from international and regional organisations.
    Ambassador Manzalawi delivered a speech during the summit, which was widely circulated, encompassing an overview of the League of Arab States' stance on the Palestinian cause. He also elaborated on the initiatives undertaken by the League to support Arab nations in implementing the 2030 Plan for Sustainable Development. Furthermore, on the sidelines of the summit, he engaged in discussions with senior officials from member states of the organisation and the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, focusing on topics of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on the Palestinian cause.
