His Excellency Ambassador Khalil Ibrahim Al-Thawadi, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Arab Affairs and National Security Sector, along with Minister Plenipotentiary Tariq Abdul-Salam, Director of the Military Administration, inaugurated on 29 June the preparatory meeting for the 29th symposium for representatives of the heads of training bodies in the Arab Armed Forces.

The meeting was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States and was chaired by Naval Brigadier General Karim Taqa, head of the Tunisian Republic Delegation. The meeting focused on a study entitled "The Role of Self-Learning in Developing the Future Capabilities of the Armed Forces and Its Impact on Operations and Training."

A distinguished group of officers representing the heads of training bodies from 15 Arab countries attended the meeting. The General Secretariat (Arab Affairs and National Security Sector – Military Administration) received seven studies on the symposium's theme from member states: Tunisia, Algeria, Palestine, Libya, Egypt, Morocco, and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. These studies were discussed, and a unified version was produced at the conclusion of the meeting. This consolidated study will be submitted to the heads of training bodies at their upcoming meeting in November 2025 for discussion and approval, after which it will be circulated to the armed forces and military institutions of the member states.

At the start of the meeting, Ambassador Al-Thawadi delivered a speech in which he welcomed the officers and delegation members, conveying the greetings of His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, and his best wishes for the success of their meeting. His Excellency also expressed confidence that the meeting would yield a valuable study for the Arab Armed Forces, noting that the distinguished level of participation reflects the leadership's keen interest in enhancing cooperation and promoting joint Arab military coordination. He stressed the importance of self-learning as a means to improve the competencies of personnel in the armed forces of the Arab states.

Naval Brigadier General Karim Taqa, head of the Tunisian Delegation and Chair of the preparatory meeting, also addressed the participants, expressing his gratitude to the General Secretariat (Arab Affairs and National Security Sector – Military Administration) and to the participating delegations for their presence and engagement. He underscored the importance of these symposia in strengthening military training and cooperation across the Arab world.
