Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received Mr. Taher Al-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Libya, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat on 9 July.
Gamal Roshdy, the Secretary-General’s official spokesperson, stated that the meeting focused on the situation in Libya and ongoing regional and international efforts to advance the political process. He noted that the Secretary-General listened to the Minister’s assessment of developments in Libya and welcomed the government’s commitment to engaging with the League of Arab States in support of national unity and efforts to place Libya on a path towards unity and stability.
Roshdy added that the Secretary-General reaffirmed the League’s readiness to support the Libyan people in their pursuit of appropriate solutions, within a framework that ensures Libyan ownership and leadership of the political process.
