  • Aboul Gheit denounces occupation’s approval of settlement plan undermining two-state solution
    Date: 21/08/2025

Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, strongly condemned the plan approved by the Israeli government in the E1 area east of Jerusalem, stressing that it poses a serious threat to the prospects of realising the two-state solution and establishing a contiguous Palestinian state.

Gamal Roshdy, Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, stated that the settlement project fragments the West Bank, undermines the territorial continuity of a future Palestinian state, and embodies a long-standing aspiration of the Israeli right aimed at obstructing its establishment.

The Spokesperson quoted the Secretary-General as underscoring the need for the international community to confront this dangerous settlement project, stressing that safeguarding the two-state solution is a top priority, especially as the alternative is the perpetuation of violence and instability.

Mr. Aboul Gheit affirmed that the Israeli government's approval of this plan once again exposes the deeply extremist and expansionist nature of the ruling group in Israel.
