  • Aboul Gheit denounces Israeli massacres in Gaza, demands international community to break shameful silence on killing journalists and spread of famine
    Date: 25/08/2025

Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, condemned in the strongest terms the ongoing Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip, including the recent massacre at the Nasser Medical Complex, which claimed the lives of 20 people, among them five journalists.

Gamal Roshdy, the Secretary-General's official spokesperson, stated that this latest atrocity is but one in a series of deliberate massacres targeting civilians. He noted that Israel has assassinated more than 12 journalists in the past two weeks alone, while the overall death toll among journalists since the beginning of the war has risen to hundreds.

The Spokesperson added that Israel is seeking to conceal the atrocities unfolding in Gaza and silence every voice that conveys the truth. He quoted the Secretary-General as calling on the international community to break its shameful silence in the face of unprecedented atrocities and cold-blooded crimes committed daily without accountability or even a single dissenting voice saying, “Enough of this ongoing slaughter.”

Mr. Aboul Gheit stressed that the world’s inaction amounts to acquiescence in the daily killing of dozens of innocent people in Gaza, which itself constitutes a grave crime. He warned that the conscience of humanity is shaken by images of famine consuming the bodies of children, pointing out that in the past 24 hours alone, 11 deaths from starvation and malnutrition were recorded in the Strip.

The Secretary-General further underlined that raising one’s voice against these shameful atrocities cannot be dismissed as anti-Semitism, affirming that criticism of Zionist and Israeli practices does not equate to hostility towards Jews. He accused Israel of exploiting this ready-made accusation as a tool to silence all free voices that denounce practices inimical to humanity and civilisation.
