As part of efforts to strengthen joint cooperation with Member States, Ambassador Mohannad Saleh Lajouzi, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and Director-General of the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries, paid a courtesy visit on 15 September to His Excellency Ambassador Mohamed Samir, Permanent Representative of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the League of Arab States.

Ambassador Lajouzi opened the meeting by extending his warmest congratulations to His Excellency Ambassador Samir on assuming his new duties, wishing him every success in his mission.

During the meeting, the Director-General of the Fund reviewed the most prominent programmes and activities of this Arab body devoted to providing technical assistance to African countries. These include offering scholarships to African students in various scientific disciplines, organizing capacity-building training courses, and dispatching experts in fields such as agriculture, irrigation, health, diplomacy, and energy, in response to the needs of African institutions.

The meeting further highlighted the leading role of the brotherly Arab Republic of Egypt in supporting these efforts, notably through Egyptian universities that receive hundreds of African students annually, as well as training centres and national experts who constitute a cornerstone in the implementation of many of the Fund's programmes. This reflects Egypt's prominent position on the African continent and its pivotal role in strengthening Arab-African cooperation.

For his part, His Excellency Ambassador Samir welcomed the visit and expressed his great appreciation for the Fund's efforts and tangible contributions in serving African countries. He stressed his commitment to supporting its activities and enhancing cooperation with relevant Egyptian institutions, thereby contributing to the development of its future programmes and consolidating Egypt's role on the continent.

This meeting falls within the framework of the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries' commitment to strengthening its partnerships with Member States and enhancing its programmes to serve sustainable development priorities and advance Arab-African integration.
