Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, is scheduled to arrive in Sharm El-Sheikh on 13 October to take part in the Peace Summit co-chaired by President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and Donald Trump, President of the United States of America.
The summit will mark the launch of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza between Israel and Hamas, as an initial step toward ending the war and rebuilding the Strip based on the Trump plan.
Gamal Roshdy, the Secretary-General’s official spokesperson, quoted Mr. Aboul Gheit as saying that the agreement represents the beginning of the path toward ending the bloodshed, restoring normal life, rebuilding Gaza, and paving the way for an irreversible process toward achieving the two-state solution.
Mr. Aboul Gheit expressed his gratitude to Egypt and the United States for their major role in halting the genocidal war, and extended his appreciation to Qatar and Turkey for their diligent mediation efforts to end the Palestinian bloodshed.
