Gamal Roshdy, Spokesman for the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, expressed dismay over the statement made by the leader of the British Conservative Party during the parliamentary session concerning the ceasefire agreement on 14 October.
He said that the statement contained numerous inaccuracies and reflected a clear bias against the Palestinians. He noted, for instance, that the British politician’s claim regarding UNRWA’s alleged involvement in terrorism fully aligns with the Israeli narrative on the matter—one that lacks any factual basis and disregards the findings of a conclusive United Nations investigation affirming UNRWA’s indispensable role in providing assistance to Palestinian refugees.
The Spokesman further lamented that the opposition leader’s statement made no mention of the immense suffering endured by Palestinians as a result of Israel’s unprecedented and brutal campaign of extermination. He added that the statement reflected complete alignment with Israeli narratives and an overt bias in their favour.
He reaffirmed the League of Arab States' appreciation for the positions of the Starmer government, which demonstrate a balanced and genuine commitment to rectifying historical injustices—responsibility for which Britain bears alone in the context of the Palestinian question—whether through recognition of the State of Palestine or by supporting efforts to establish a credible and irreversible path towards Palestinian statehood.
