  • Regional conference on international judicial cooperation in combatting terrorism to be held
    Date: 22/10/2025

The Arab Centre for Legal and Judicial Research, in cooperation with the EU-funded CT JUST project, is organising a regional conference on international judicial cooperation in combatting terrorism from 27 to 29 October in the Lebanese capital, Beirut. The conference will be held under the patronage and in the presence of His Excellency General Joseph Aoun, President of the Lebanese Republic, and His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.

The conference will open with a series of preparatory sessions on its first day to discuss various topics related to judicial cooperation in the field of counterterrorism. The official opening session will take place on 28 October with the participation of His Excellency the President of the Lebanese Republic, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, a number of Arab Ministers of Justice, the head of the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice, judges from relevant Arab judicial bodies, officials from international cooperation departments in Arab ministries of justice, and judges and representatives from European judicial institutions.

The conference comes as a result of cooperation between the League of Arab States and the European Union within the framework of the Arab-European Strategic Dialogue, adopted by the resolutions of the Arab-European Cooperation Forum. Among its key outcomes is the partnership between the Arab Centre for Legal and Judicial Research—the scientific arm of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice—and the EU-funded Criminal Justice Centre to strengthen judicial cooperation and the exchange of expertise between Arab and European Union member states.
