A meeting of the Permanent Representatives to the League of Arab States was held on 23 October at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States to review and discuss the ongoing preparations for the 10th meeting between the Permanent Representatives to the League of Arab States and the Ambassadors of the Political and Security Committee of the Council of the European Union, scheduled to take place in Brussels, Belgium, on 4 November.
The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Mr. Hamad Al-Zaabi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the League of Arab States, who currently presides over the League Council at the Ministerial Level. The delegation of the General Secretariat was headed by His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Manzlawi, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the International Political Affairs Sector. During the meeting, the Permanent Representatives of the Arab Member States were briefed on the latest developments related to the preparations for the upcoming meeting, and discussions were held on the draft press statement to be adopted.
Ambassador Dr. Khaled Manzlawi, Assistant Secretary-General for International Political Affairs, stated that these meetings are primarily aimed at deepening relations between Arab countries and the European Union and enhancing mechanisms of cooperation between them—particularly as they are being resumed after an interruption of nearly three years. He stated that Arab-European cooperation has always represented one of the most significant frameworks established by the League of Arab States with international groupings.
During the meeting, delegates commended the efforts exerted by the United Arab Emirates and the General Secretariat to ensure the success of the forthcoming meetings and expressed their hope that these efforts would contribute to advancing joint cooperation towards broader horizons that meet the aspirations and ambitions of both sides.
