  • China's Fudan University confers honorary doctorate on Aboul Gheit

    At a grand ceremony held at Fudan University in Shanghai, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, was awarded an honorary doctorate in recognition of his distinguished contributions to the advancement of academic education and the fostering of cooperation between the League of Arab States and Fudan University. The ceremony was attended by numerous prominent Arab academics, cultural figures, and diplomats.

    Gamal Roshdy, the Secretary-General’s official spokesperson, stated that Mr. Aboul Gheit delivered a speech during the ceremony, in which he expressed his sincere gratitude to Fudan University and the Academic Committee of the State Council of China for conferring the honorary doctorate. He described it not only as a personal honour but also as a recognition of the League of Arab States’ value and symbolic significance, and its role as a bridge for constructive dialogue with civilisations worldwide.

    In his speech, Mr. Aboul Gheit also conveyed the Arab world’s appreciation for China’s modern renaissance, its pride in its long civilisational journey, and its significant contributions to human civilisation.

    It is worth noting that Fudan University is among China’s leading public universities, ranking third nationally and 30th globally according to the QS World University Rankings for 2026.
