In accordance with Article 5 of the Statute of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, the Council, during its 55th session held on 26 November at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, approved the granting of observer status to both the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO) and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.
The Council's decision falls within the framework of its openness to media actors in the Arab and Islamic worlds and its commitment to strengthening cooperation with organisations and bodies engaged in media activities, with the aim of exchanging expertise and drawing on their experiences, plans, and work programmes in the media and communication field.
With this new membership, the Council will comprise 20 organisations and unions operating in various fields related to news, production, programming, audiovisual media, and the development of media professionals.
