The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, Economic Affairs Sector – Housing, Water Resources, and Disaster Risk Reduction Department, will hold the first meeting of the Arab Follow-up Committee on the Implementation of the Arab Food Security Strategy and the Review of the Arab Food Security Situation from 30 November to 1 December at the General Secretariat headquarters in Cairo.
The meeting aims to follow up on the implementation of the resolutions of the Fifth Arab Economic and Social Development Summit regarding the strengthening of Arab food security, review progress made in implementing the Arab Food Security Strategy, discuss relevant regional challenges, and develop practical mechanisms to enhance joint Arab action in this field.
Representatives from Arab states and relevant regional stakeholders will participate in the meeting, presenting updates on the food situation in the region and formulating proposals to enhance the capacity of Arab states to achieve sustainable food security.
The General Secretariat affirms its continued commitment to supporting the efforts of Arab member states in developing effective food security policies and improving regional coordination in this regard.
