Ambassador Mohannad Saleh Lajouzi, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and Director-General of the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries, paid a courtesy visit to Engineer Hassan Abdel Aziz Hassan, President of the African Federation of Construction Contractors Associations and former Deputy Minister of Housing. The meeting, held at the Federation’s headquarters in Nasr City, Cairo, was also attended by Ambassador Hatem Tag El-Din, Secretary-General of the Federation.
The visit falls within the framework of strengthening institutional cooperation between the League of Arab States and the African Federation of Construction Contractors Associations to explore avenues for joint collaboration, particularly in the training and development of construction engineers in Arab and African countries. The aim is to enhance the capacities of the construction sector and improve the efficiency of engineering personnel.
During the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of developing specialised technical and engineering training programmes, organising joint workshops, and promoting the exchange of expertise among institutions working in infrastructure and construction in Africa and the Arab world. They also agreed to maintain coordination to develop a joint implementation plan to support young engineers and advance cooperation on development projects during 2026.
The Secretary-General of the Federation expressed his satisfaction with the deepening cooperation with the League of Arab States, noting that building effective partnerships with relevant Arab institutions will help support companies operating in the sector, broaden the exchange of expertise at the regional level, and mark a new beginning in strengthening the developmental role of both the Federation and the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries.
