Arab-EU Summit is convened on 24-25th February
2019, in Sharm el-Sheikh/ the Arab Republic of Egypt. The summit is co-chaired
by Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and European Council President Donald
Tusk, with the participation of Arab and European Leaders of Member States from
both sides the League of Arab States and the European Union.
This Summit is being convened as a culmination of the
long-standing historical ties and relations between the two sides, and it also
in the quest of enhancing and intensifying the Arab European cooperation,
during the recent phase, and advancing it towards a broader horizon, to address
the common challenges and achieve security, stability, and development for the
people of the the two regions, and establish a path for the relations of the
two parties, based on achieving areas of mutual interest and concern.
In this context, the Summit discusses many issues of
priority and mutual interest, mainly, the situations in the Middle East,
regional and international political issues, including issues of countering
terrorism and extremism, and handling migration, refugees, human trafficking,
and climate changes, in addition to the means of raising the economic, trade
and investment cooperation, and providing the European development support for
the development process in the Arab
region.
